Law of Motion is, by its very essence, a concept which appears to be oxymoronic. The name is derived from what is commonly referred to as Newton’s laws of movement and, at first glance, the reference to a singular “Law” appears to be in error. But the enigmatic artist has a different rationale. Although it can be used to refer to a singular law, its use also produces the paradoxical effect of being able to encompass several laws or a more holistic concept of the rules or regulations which are pertinent to the production of good electronic music. By embracing the concept of paradox, the artist believes that there is a freedom to draw influence from other genres, such as Rock, Pop and Funk, and make music which stands out because of its fundamental uniqueness. The amorphous quality of the Law of Motion means that the artist is free to resist the short-term commercial appeal of leitmotifs and gimmicks, as well as avoiding the hampering of creativity which arises when an artist has been categorized to a certain genre.
